It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
A selection of Christmas-themed works from the auction room
Merry Christmas. With the year winding down, this week’s edition is simply a collection of festive-themed works that have surfaced at auction — something light to enjoy over the Christmas break, however you choose to spend it.
I’ve also (perhaps controversially) included a couple of Annunciation works. There are far more Annunciations than Nativity scenes in art history, and without that moment, there is no birth of Jesus nine months later.
Enjoy, and thank you for reading. I look forward to sharing more auction insights in 2026.
